A BLUESY LOVE LETTER TO THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA
// a presentation on the creation of Ryan Coogler’s debut original film, Sinners (2025)

I knew from the moment I saw the first teaser trailer highlighting an original film by Academy Award-Nominated director, Ryan Coogler, starring Micheal B. Jordan— I was sat. Later, I learned there would be vampires, but still I did not sway. Within two days after seeing the film, I had decided to once again subject those around me to an hour long presentation on why this film was worth the ticket. I did my best to avoid any spoilers and instead focused on the craft, crew, inspiration and themes behind the film.

Inspired by an illustration, published in The New Yorker, that I found while researching the film’s production I designed a presentation deck to accompany my thoughts. Carrying the color palette throughout it touched on the dark and sinster parts of the film, while providing jolts of impact and grit. The presentation uses visuals to associate the film with it’s award-winning crew, deep dark themes, inspiring artwork and representations of what the filming process changed in the industry. And I didn’t even mention the Halo camera rig. Google it. That shows how many cool and amazing things they did to make this movie and emphasizes why I thought it deserved its own shining hour in my social + work circles.
